Talk on the paintings of Naser Oveisi
At the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art on 27 Khordad 1396 (17 June 2017), Mojabi spoke at an event presenting 24 paintings by Naser Oveisi and a book on the artist. He traced Oveisi’s development from early modernist work to his sustained reworking of Persian miniature traditions. Mojabi described how Oveisi simplified line and colour, drew on historical Iranian art as well as Chinese, Japanese, European, and American art, and carried a poetic sensibility into his paintings. The talk presents Oveisi’s work as a meeting of modern composition, Iranian visual heritage, and the artist’s close engagement with poetry.
